Rishabh Pant appeals to Uttarakhand CM for assistance with land acquisition

Rishabh Pant's midnight plea to Uttarakhand CM: 'Please help me in land acquisition' as star seeks to build home in state

India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant recently made a public appeal to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, requesting assistance with land acquisition in the state. Pant expressed his desire to relocate his base from Delhi to Uttarakhand and build his first home in his native state.

Pant, who is currently with the Indian team in Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series, used a social media platform to make his request, tagging Dhami in a detailed post. He stated that he had been attempting to find suitable land in Uttarakhand for three years but had faced difficulties in locating a property that met his requirements. Pant emphasized his wish to return to his roots and contribute to the state after representing India on the international stage for several years.

In his appeal, Pant clarified that he was not seeking land as a gift but intended to purchase it from the government at the applicable rates. He expressed that while a gift would be appreciated for representing the state internationally, he preferred to buy the land to build his first home in his own state. The posts quickly garnered significant attention on social media.

Connection to Uttarakhand and Financial Contributions

Rishabh Pant was born in Roorkee, located in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district, and began his cricketing journey there before moving to Delhi to pursue his professional career. Despite playing for Delhi in domestic cricket, Pant has consistently maintained a strong connection with Uttarakhand. His recent posts highlight his aspiration to eventually make the state his permanent home and contribute to its development.

Pant’s appeal follows closely after he was identified as Uttarakhand’s highest individual taxpayer for the 2025-26 financial year. He reportedly paid Rs 23.84 crore in income tax. This figure was announced by the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Uttarakhand, during an event on July 24 marking Income Tax Day. Pant topped the list of individual taxpayers in the state for the second consecutive year. According to reports, Pant’s tax contribution more than doubled from the previous financial year, when he had paid approximately Rs 10.5 crore in advance tax.

Earnings and Endorsements

Pant’s substantial tax payments reflect his earnings from various sources, including his BCCI contract, IPL salary, match fees, and endorsement deals. He was acquired by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore, making him one of the most expensive players in the league. During the assessed period for his tax payments, Pant held a Grade A BCCI contract, which included an annual retainership of Rs 7 crore. He has since been moved to Grade B, with his annual retainership reduced to Rs 3 crore.

His commercial earnings significantly contribute to his overall income. Pant has endorsement agreements with several brands, including Adidas, Dream11, SG, Thums Up, Cadbury, boAt, Noise, Zomato, JSW Cement, and MakeMyTrip. His endorsement fees are reportedly between Rs 28 crore to Rs 35 crore for one brand in a year. Additionally, he reportedly charges Rs 2.5 crore per day for single-day brand shoots and between Rs 4.5 crore to Rs 4.75 crore for a two-day commitment.

Pant’s IPL match fees for the 2025 season were Rs 8 lakh per match, totaling Rs 1.1 crore. His India match fees include Rs 15 lakh per Test match and Rs 8 lakh per ODI game. Pant has scored 3557 runs in 50 Tests, 871 runs in 31 ODIs, and 1209 runs in 76 T20I matches.
